Dispatch and packaging

For a comprehensive expert’s report it is essential to inspect the damaged bike and to conduct measurements and tests, if necessary. As it is often impossible to carry out such kind of inspection on the spot and in view of avoiding too high travel expenses, it has proven itself successful to have the bicycle dispatched.

1. Shipment with our local forwarder

Shipping costs: one way approx. EUR 35.00 – 40.00 excl. VAT

Packaging: in bike carton (see below)

A marine cargo insurance covering the value of goods is concluded by us in general.

Tip for insurance companies:
In order to accelerate handling and dispatch, it would help if you inform the claimant that Sachverständigenbüro Zedler will get in touch with him with regard to the bicycle shipment that is necessary to prepare the report. We will care for the further proceedings and provide the claimant with the necessary information.

The shipping cost will be included in our invoice.

2. Shipment with Hermes service (in Germany)

Shipping costs: one way EUR 39.90 plus film packaging, if necessary EUR 5.90 (incl. VAT)
Shipping costs are collected in cash by courier upon collection of the bicycle.
We advise that you ensure your customer/claimant the assumption of costs in advance.

Courier must be called by consignor. Please phone +49 1805 4884 or +49 900 1311211 (0.60 €/min). Collection address as well as our address and phone number must be indicated.

Hermes ensures doorstep collection by a courier the day after order placement (until 8 pm) at the earliest – provided that someone is in between 9 am and 5 pm. If not, another collection address has to be indicated.

Packaging: The claimant either packs the bicycle in a big bike carton (see below) or she/he orders a bike packaging upon order placement. The courier will bring film packaging material when collecting the bike; the consignor does not need to do anything further.

Bike packaging

A bike carton necessary for shipment can be obtained by the bicycle dealer to whom the bicycles are delivered in such kind of boxes. Usually you get these cartons for free.

Before packing a bike in a bike carton, you only need to turn the handlebar, lower the saddle and screw the pedals inside the crank.

Instructions for bicycle packing can be provided by us upon request.

In particular cases, in which bike packing is impossible, we can make available a special carton for dispatch for an additional delivery fee of 30 € and send it to the claimant.

Handling

The handling of the shipment produces expenses for communication with the claimant/his or her bike dealer, for the order placement with the forwarder and for packaging the bike. This takes about 0.5 to 1.5 hours and is charged at an hourly rate (for non-skilled employees) of EUR 35.00 excl. VAT.
