To avoid bad surprises when manufacturing and selling bicycles, e.g. in form of a high complaint rate, dissatisfied customers or negative results in comparative tests published in magazines, it is absolutely reasonable to only launch tested products on the market.
In case you "only" import goods, be aware of the fact that law considers you as manufacturer in the event you import from outside the EU. Wholesalers and retailers with bicycle workshop for assembly can also be held liable in a claim activating event. This law was for example applied to a company with bicycle workshop for assembly in a decision of Oberlandesgericht Oldenburg (Higher Regional Court) for the breakage of an imported pedal.
Therefore, it is advisable to have the prototypes examined, measured and tested already before they enter series production. Stiffness tests, for example, reveal weak points of the frame. By conducting such tests the tendency of a bicycle to wobble dangerously at high speed can be detected early. It is also possible to find out prior to series production whether the lateral forces applied to the rear shock of a full-suspension bicycle when ridden out of the saddle lead to excessive wear.
Load bearing components, especially forks, handlebars, seat posts and stems should be tested thoroughly before being marketed and regularly when in series production. Static, shock absorption and dynamic tests have to complement one another in an intelligent way in order to be able to assemble safe products. We offer tests for almost all component groups. They can be conducted in accordance with CEN-standards or according to your own, complementary standards or criteria we consider reasonable from our experience.
The test stands that were developed by us for the bicycle magazines of Delius Klasing Verlag, and that are manufactured at our premises can be procured through us. Due to their plug-and-play-principle the test stands are ready for immediate use. According to the feedback from our customers, they deliver reliable results.
You can also take advantage of our long experience in the field of production and quality management.
We analyse your assembly and production, arrange workflows, compile checklists for the manufacture and assembly of bicycles and work out easy-to-understand instructions for your staff, such as "tightening torque tables" etc. The same service is offered to processing and assembly companies.
Furthermore, we develop reasonable frame geometries, analyse the production precision and make suggestions for improvement, if required.
