Legislation and technology: dealer training by Stevens

120 dealers attended the second Stevens dealer training this year at the Holiday Inn Elbbrücken in Hamburg. The main issues during the two days were the current legal situation and the technical characteristics of pedelecs.

"Our dealers are highly informed about state-of-the-art bicycle technology. In our daily contact, however, we noticed a need of information in technical and current legislative issues relating to pedelec handling", states Marco Wolint, Stevens service manager, who had organized the training.

The answers to the dealers were delivered by the Stevens suppliers Bosch, Busch und Müller as well as Fallbrook/NuVinic. The legal issues were treated in lectures of Thomas Rohr of TÜV Rheinland and of bicycle expert Dirk Zedler whose Zedler – Institut for Fahrradtechnik und -Sicherheit GmbH has been in collaboration with the Hamburg bicycle manufacturers for years. He explained with descriptive practical examples what the CE-marking on pedelecs means in practise for the bicycle dealers.

Changes and new regulations for S-pedelecs resulting from an EU regulation dated 2013 "on the authorization and market surveillance of two or three-wheel and four-wheel vehicles" were treated by Thomas Rohr.

Marco Wolint presented the Stevens service concept in detail and informed about the carbon recycling and the crash-replacement program of the company. Additional information was delivered on the proper handling of rechargeable batteries and the inquiries of trade supervisory authorities that examine pedelecs increasingly.
