Die häufigsten Sicherheitsrisiken, die uns in der täglichen Arbeit rund um Fahrrad-Sicherheit, -Technik und -Bedienungsanleitungen auffallen, publizieren wir auch in Artikeln in den führenden Fachmagazinen TOUR – Europas Rennrad-Magazin Nr. 1, BIKE – Das Mountainbike Magazin Europas Nr. 1 und E-Bike – Das Pedelec-Magazin, um diese für die Branche wichtigen Informationen einer größeren Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen.

Auch die Eurobike Show Daily, Messezeitschrift der jährlich stattfindenden Eurobike Show, gibt uns seit vielen Jahren die Möglichkeit, unsere Sicht auf wichtige Entwicklungen in der Fahrradbranche in ganzseitigen Artikeln auszuführen.

New: Guidelines for the parts replacement of speed pedelecs

The history: As CE marked e-bikes / pedelecs with a pedal assistance of up to 25 kmh / 15.5 mph are covered by the Machinery Directive and as parts must not be replaced just like that, there was great uncertainty among dealers at the beginning. For this reason, the German bicycle association ZIV and the German service and bicycle association VSF in cooperation with Zedler-Institut and the umbrella organization for German industry guilds BIV published joint guidelines for parts replacement of e-bikes / pedelecs 25 at the end of 2015 and these guidelines were gratefully accepted by the dealers. Just recently new guidelines for speed pedelecs (up to 45 kmh / 28 mph) were also issued. As speed pedelecs are classified as motor vehicles they are subject to the EU Directive 2002/24/EC or the EU Regulation no. 168/2013.

New: guidelines for speed pedelecs

The question what bicycle dealers and workshops are allowed to modify on vehicles and for which components they have to ask for the approval of the vehicle manufacturers and/or the system providers is clearly regulated by the 2015 issued pedelec guidelines (up to 25 kmh / 15.5 mph) which are to be considered as recommendation to act.

Comparable guidelines for the parts replacement are now also available for speed e-bikes / pedelecs with pedal assistance up to 45 kmh / 28 mph. Unlike pedelecs up to 25 kmh / 15.5 mph speed pedelecs are classified as motor vehicles and thus subject to the EU Directive 2002/24/EC or the EU Regulation no. 168/2013.

These guidelines were worked out under the responsibility of the following associations and companies: The umbrella organization for German industry guilds BIV, TUEV Rheinland, Velotech.de, the German service and bicycle association VSF, Zedler-Institut as well as the German bicycle association ZIV.
