In our daily work as we deal with bicycle safety, technology and user manuals we come across lots of safety risks. The most frequent ones are published in articles of the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR – Europas Rennrad-Magazin Nr. 1, BIKE – Das Mountainbike Magazin Europas Nr. 1 and E-Bike – Das Pedelec-Magazin to make this information important for the sector accessible to a wider public.
For many years now the Eurobike Show Daily accompanying the annual international Eurobike Show has given us the opportunity to publish our perspective on major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.
We also speak regularly in independent lectures about all topics relating to bicycle technology and bicycle market. In addition, we are regularly cited by further special-interest magazines or trade journals as well as more and more by radio and television and in their media reports, which shows us that we are completely right with our information. The section NEWS informs you about the latest news from our specialist fields. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to topics of interest.
Where would we be without our BIKE tests. Every month we test the newest bikes for their load bearing capacity and performance. A well equipped test laboratory is essential for an objective, differentiated assessment. That is exactly the point where Zedler Group has supported us since 1994. This year Zedler Group is celebrating their 25th anniversary and inaugurated their new company building at the same time. The special thing: The new building has not only a fancy look, it is environmentally friendly in addition.
The modern building was built from only a few selected materials and covers most of their energy needs on their own. Sunlight and waste heat keep their own ecological fingerprint as inferior as possible. Bikers would destroy the woods. As if! Apart from lots of offices and meeting rooms, the house itself also includes a museum with original milestones of bicycle history, a chamber of horrors with all kinds of burst bike parts, appropriately enough named “Walk of Fail” as well as, of course, the bicycle test stands.
The anniversary celebration and the opening of the new building were attended by more than 140 guests – among them Baden-Wuerttemberg’s Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann. Hermann praised the bike sector, as it was built up and designed with heart and soul by decision makers and enthusiasts.
Since 25 years we have been putting the newest bikes and parts to the tests under extreme conditions and thanks to the Zedler Group we did this with brain. But how does look such a test stand like and how does it actually work? The centrepiece of every laboratory test is our BIKE test stand, internally known as “Triceratops”. But this high-tech tool is anything else than 67 million years old. On this device we determine the characteristic curves of the fork and the rear frame as well as the frame stiffness.
The Zedler Group contributed and still contributes considerably to the fact that modern bicycles have become more and more safe. Due to the tough test criteria that we are able to test with our own and with the test stands of Zedler Group, we were in a position to discover certain deficiencies on bikes at an early stage and to inform our readers accordingly. This resulted in the fact that bikes which are produced in these days are more resistant and more robust. In the end this this is a benefit for all: the reader, the manufacturer, the magazine, the tester and yes, even a little bit for the environment.
