MEASUREMENTS OF OUR TEST STANDS
1 Seating comfort: Flexible seat post, tube shapes and the fibre layering of carbon frames can make hardtails more comfortable. Our measurements detect even fine differences.
2 Central frame stiffness, spring characteristics of forks and rear triangular plus wheel trajectory curve: Our newest test stand from test institute Zedler measures all three criteria at the same time. This eases the testing at the BIKE lab.
3 Brake performance: On our in-house drum test stands we bring every brake to its limits and are in a position to deliver exact findings as to brake force and stability.
4 Wheel inertia: The weight of the wheels only tells half of the truth. With our measurement tools to determine the inertia we can state exactly how easily the wheels can be accelerated.
The BIKE test lab
Eight hours per bike and about 150 bikes per year: There is permanently intense activity in the BIKE test lab. Every mountain bike passing the test at BIKE has to complete a comprehensive full program and is dismounted to its individual pieces for this purpose. The other German cycle magazines of our publishing house (TOUR, FREERIDE, E-MTB and MYBIKE) also rely upon the valuable data of our test stands developed together with the test institute Zedler (...). About 600 bikes per year are thus guided through the comprehensive procedure of our test lab. An unmatched wealth of data digged up in thousands of working hours.
