All about bicycles, pedelecs, technology and safety in the press

In our daily work as we deal with bicycle safety, technology and user manuals we come across lots of safety risks. The most frequent ones are published in articles of the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR – Europas Rennrad-Magazin Nr. 1, BIKE – Das Mountainbike Magazin Europas Nr. 1 and E-Bike – Das Pedelec-Magazin to make this information important for the sector accessible to a wider public.

For many years now the Eurobike Show Daily accompanying the annual international Eurobike Show has given us the opportunity to publish our perspective on major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent lectures about all topics relating to bicycle technology and bicycle market. In addition, we are regularly cited by further special-interest magazines or trade journals as well as more and more by radio and television and in their media reports, which shows us that we are completely right with our information. The section NEWS informs you about the latest news from our specialist fields. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to topics of interest.

Panel discussion: Head of testing Brackemann announces new pedelec test

VSF becomes member of advisory committee

The panel discussion on the pedelec test subject of the German product testers (Stiftung Warentest) was one of the highlights at the end of the annual meeting of the branch association VSF (Verbund Service und Fahrrad).

(…)

The damage caused in the sector (…) with all inconsistencies mentioned once again by everyone in Bad Boll, in particular with regard to the test setup referring to the operational strength of bicycle frames  (…), cannot be made good. Many livelihoods in the cycle industry have been put at risk. (…)

All the more attention will be provided to make it better on the occasion of the next pedelec test by Stiwa, that is to say from all sides.

Preparations for the next pedelec test are already in full swing. Head of testing, Mr Brackemann, announces in this connection that the test criterion riding stability will then have a greater significance. A point which is urgently called for by Dirk Zedler, managing director of the institute for bicycle technology and safety. At the same time he strongly questioned once again the chosen test setup for the frame test with the rear frame being firmly mounted, which had resulted in a breakage of the dropouts of the C-Flyer. According to Zedler, state-of-the-art test setups look different and are all in all much more expensive.

Zedler who has recently become a supporting member of VSF can introduce his knowledge in the case of future pedelec tests of Stiwa. He has become member of the advisory committee that will deal with the test criteria of Stiwa in the run-up to the next pedelec test.
