All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

The most common safety risks that we come across in our daily work around bicycle safety, technology and operating instructions are also published by us in articles in the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR (Europe's road bike magazine no. 1), BIKE (Europe's mountain bike magazine no. 1), MYBIKE and EMTB in order to make this information, which is important for the industry, available to a wider public.

For many years now, the Eurobike Show Daily, trade fair magazine of the annual Eurobike Show, has also given us the opportunity to publish our view of major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent expert presentations about all areas of bicycle technology and the bicycle market. Parts replacement on electric bicycles: expanded guidelines go online

As CE marked e-bikes / pedelecs with a pedal assistance of up to 25 kmh / 15.5 mph are covered by the Machinery Directive and as parts must not be replaced just like that, there was great uncertainty among dealers at the beginning. Guidelines worked out by various associations and experts at the end of 2015 have been serving as recommendation to act since this time, which eased the work of bicycle dealers and workshops a lot. Now, these guidelines have been expanded and are available free of charge in several languages on the internet.

Associations and experts have joined forces

At the end of 2015, the German bicycle association ZIV and the German service and bicycle association VSF in cooperation with Zedler-Institut and the umbrella organization for German industry guilds BIV had published joint guidelines for parts replacement of e-bikes / pedelecs 25 gratefully accepted by the dealers.

Now, such guidelines for the parts replacements are also available for speed e-bikes / pedelecs with a pedal assistance of up to 45 kmh / 28 mph which unlike the aforementioned vehicles are classified as motor vehicles and thus subject to the EU Directive 2002/24/EC or the EU Regulation no. 168/2013. These guidelines were worked out under the responsibility of the following associations and companies: The umbrella organization for German industry guilds BIV, TUEV Rheinland,, the German service and bicycle association VSF, Zedler-Institut as well as the German bicycle association ZIV.
