All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

In our daily work as we deal with bicycle safety, technology and user manuals we come across lots of safety risks. The most frequent ones are published in articles of the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR – Europas Rennrad-Magazin Nr. 1, BIKE – Das Mountainbike Magazin Europas Nr. 1 and E-Bike – Das Pedelec-Magazin to make this information important for the sector accessible to a wider public.

For many years now the Eurobike Show Daily accompanying the annual international Eurobike Show has given us the opportunity to publish our perspective on major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent lectures about all topics relating to bicycle technology and bicycle market. In addition, we are regularly cited by further special-interest magazines or trade journals as well as more and more by radio and television and in their media reports, which shows us that we are completely right with our information. The section NEWS informs you about the latest news from our specialist fields. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to topics of interest.

Going to have some ice cream, shopping or riding offroad

“There is no more e-bike as such, but a multitude of different types according to the respective field of use.”

Dirk Zedler (...), officially appointed and sworn bicycle expert from Ludwigsburg recommends interested persons that they should answer the following question first: “What do I want to do with it?” Going into town to have some ice cream or do some shopping? Going on tour or longer travels? Maybe offroad or into the mountains? The second question: Do I want an e-bike with motor which provides pedal assist up to 25 kmh, is considered as bicycle and can be used on all usual surfaces? Or do I want to use an e-bike with motor which provides pedal assist up to 45 kmh as substitute for a car, because I am a long-distance commuter? The e-bike needs an MOT approval to ride on public roads.

For those who are interested in an e-bike Zedler recommends that they make a test ride to find the suitable motor as well as a riding technique course to get used to the higher speed. With regard to the drive Zedler recommends mid-mounted motors as they allow the most variation options for the gear system. As to the prices: “It starts at 2000 Euro, you don’t get anything good for less,” states Zedler. “A solid middle class is obtained for around 2500 Euro.” In addition: Every about five years you need a new battery. Costs: 350 to 700 Euro.
