All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

The most common safety risks that we come across in our daily work around bicycle safety, technology and operating instructions are also published by us in articles in the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR (Europe's road bike magazine no. 1), BIKE (Europe's mountain bike magazine no. 1), MYBIKE and EMTB in order to make this information, which is important for the industry, available to a wider public.

For many years now, the Eurobike Show Daily, trade fair magazine of the annual Eurobike Show, has also given us the opportunity to publish our view of major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent expert presentations about all areas of bicycle technology and the bicycle market. In addition, we are quoted by further special-interest magazines of the industry and the trade as well as increasingly by radio and television in their media reports, which shows us that we are spot on with our advice. The section "News" informs you about the latest news from our specialist areas. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to areas of interest.

For the trade diversification is not only curse, but also a chance

The bicycle sector needs buying incentives. That is undisputed. In this regard the industry provides an increasing offer in models. There seems to be a suitable bike for every specific intended purpose whatsoever. The media is not entirely innocent in the situation, that’s the opinion of an importer. And the dealers? They must make the best of it and order more bikes – or not? One of the suppliers is convinced that the dealer should oppose the "industry’s marketing activities". On the other hand, it’s actually the stronger diversification which brings a significant advantage: The customer is confused about which bike is the right for him. He therefore seeks advise in a specialist shop instead of buying from the discounter store or online dealer. Suppliers therefore advise the dealers to specialize themselves and strengthen their position. Read in our forum of today which way could be the best.

SAZbike asked suppliers
In every bicycle product range the model diversity is steadily growing - more and more bicycle types are to address different target groups. The product range of accessories and components shows also a wide differentiation. How shall dealers cope with this situation?

Dirk Zedler – Zedler institute
The differentiation is not only a chance, but a risk at the same time. For the dealers it is good to focus on the competence and service issues. But the management of higher stocks and the organization of daily delivery services in cooperation with the manufacturers/wholesalers will add to the problem. This is going to be a challenge in any case, as dealers will have to invest in further training.
