All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

The most common safety risks that we come across in our daily work around bicycle safety, technology and operating instructions are also published by us in articles in the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR (Europe's road bike magazine no. 1), BIKE (Europe's mountain bike magazine no. 1), MYBIKE and EMTB in order to make this information, which is important for the industry, available to a wider public.

For many years now, the Eurobike Show Daily, trade fair magazine of the annual Eurobike Show, has also given us the opportunity to publish our view of major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent expert presentations about all areas of bicycle technology and the bicycle market. In addition, we are quoted by further special-interest magazines of the industry and the trade as well as increasingly by radio and television in their media reports, which shows us that we are spot on with our advice. The section "News" informs you about the latest news from our specialist areas. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to areas of interest.

In a solemn ceremony in the due to the pandemic small but very illustrious circle of industry and politics, the two highest awards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) were presented to Zedler-Institut. The DGNB now confirms from a third party what the Sustainability Report of Zedler-Institut published at the beginning of 2020 had already made transparent in word and picture: The Zedler-Group is a pioneer in terms of sustainable management and that not only in the cycle industry, but far beyond.

In a welcoming address, Juergen Walter, as a member of Landtag (Alliance 90/The Greens), also presented Zedler-Institut verbally "the dotted jersey because the company started at the bottom and has been riding uphill successfully for many years, the green jersey because of many stage victories as well as the yellow jersey because of the overall successful and diverse commitment to social, transport and environmental issues.

The building where the about 25 team members of the Zedler-Group are working within four business fields, reached best marks in the criteria “ecological quality, economic quality, socio-cultural and functional quality” of the demanding DGNB audit. The “Building in service”-certification not only examines energy-related and climate-friendly aspects, but also, for example, the mobility situation, the quality of living in the rooms and much more. Johannes Kreissig, DGNB chairman, states in this regard: “It is virtually impossible to achieve one hundred percent, with 80 % the top award level “platinum” is achieved. The degree of performance of 92.2 percent of Zedler-Institut is the second best result reached ever.”

In addition, the sustainability representative Lea Heinle and managing Dirk Zedler were awarded the “climate-positive” status. Lea Heinle points out: “We produce more company-own electricity than the building consumes, including heating, lighting, computer and for example the dish washer and the coffee machine. Even with the enormously intensive test operations we are still climate-neutral and this without certificate trading, but by our own efforts.

It had been twenty-seven years ago that founder Dirk Zedler had set out not only to improve the quality of bicycles, but also to run a business that takes as little from nature as possible. Zedler says: “With our building, which was officially inaugurated a good two years ago, we have only built the roof over our broad commitment. The awards confirm that the consistent succession of many small steps results in consistent sustainability.”
