I’m looking for a chain rivet extractor, as my old one has quit the service. Now, I had to realise that there are great differences in prices as well as in quality. With some of them you cannot even rivet an 11-speed chain which has meanwhile become standard. For Campa I need another rivet extractor extra, pressing the pin wide. Wouldn’t it fit even without? Couldn’t you shed light on that point. There are quite a lot of tools on offer.

You are right, there are meanwhile lots of different chain rivet extractors on the market. This is justified, as the system differs partly a lot. The width of the chain is very important when it comes to accurately riveting a chain in a workshop. Therefore, you should not use an 8-speed chain rivet extractor to rivet an 11-speed chain. With an original Campagnolo chain rivet tool you can open and reclose an 11-speed chain and spread open the other rivet subsequently. If you use an original Campa chain tool, you only need one tool. Personally, I always use the original tool to be on the safe side and to avoid damage due to improper assembly. Because a chain break as risk for the cyclist should not be underestimated.
