Supporting the compatibility of studies and sports

Following a good winter running season and a second place at the Dirty Race mountain bike duathlon the time had finally come for our working student Julian Großkopf last weekend. He started in his favourite discipline the middle distance triathlon, also referred to as half ironman, in Heilbronn.

He completed the 1.9 km of swimming in the river Neckar, the 83 km of cycling with 1100 altitude metres in the vineyards of the region and the final run over 21.6 km again along the river Neckar within

and did not only win his age group of 20 years and older, but also won the entire field.

Hearty congratulations, we are happy with Julian.

To help Julian concentrate on both his aerospace engineering studies at Stuttgart University and high-performance sport Zedler-Institut supports him not only with material and apparel, but also with positioning. Furthermore, the apprentices maintain and service his three road racing and triathlon bikes.

Environmental Pros of Tomorrow in the cycle world

Transforming the economy towards sustainability is the set goal of the “Environmental Pros of Tomorrow”, a project of the German association of sustainable economy (Bundesverband Nachhaltige Wirtschaft e.V.) at school level.

The young people acquire the respective skills and expertise, among other things, in

workshops at companies that are involved in this project.

For years now, the Zedler-Group has been a partner of the “Environmental Pros of Tomorrow” and has given the juniors an insight into the work and commitment of the company group. After the event had to be held online in previous years due to the pandemic, the interested students were happy to be able to come in person again this year.

The workshop started with the presentation of the sustainability and climate-protection concept of the company group by founder and managing director Dirk Zedler. After that the juniors had the opportunity to ask the questions they had prepared. These were general questions, such as “What is in your opinion the role of the bicycle in future mobility and what part does Zedler play in it?” or “What sets the Zedler-Group apart from others in the field of sustainability in its industry?” as well as concrete ones, such as “How much CO2 do you emit?” or "How long does it take you to develop a product?”.

In an active exchange, the future environmental pros not only got the answers to their questions, but also took home thought-provoking facts, e.g. on the fuel consumption of a car just for finding a parking space.

Positive feedback for training courses

® Zedler-Institut

No matter whether Basic or Advanced, the training offered by the experts of GDFS in the seminar area of the Zedler-Group have established themselves. The subject matter is quite complex. However, the dedicated speakers of the experts report department succeed in conveying the contents in a permanent alternation of theory and practice, and this with great success, as the feedback from the participants after the training courses shows:

“The event is very comprehensive and I really liked the detailed information conveyed. I would like to emphasise really positively that you get an idea of this wealth of experience that is shared with us or passed on to us for future application.“

“First and foremost, of course, there are the details that you might have to pay attention to so that certain expert documents that you write will stand up in court or will be recognised by other insurance companies without being torn up immediately.“

For all those who are active in this field or want to become active, there is in my opinion, no other institution that has this wealth of experience. Another great advantage is of course the duration and the experience which is bundled here.”
Manuel Gauß from Velologe GmbH, Nagold

“I was really impressed by the insight into the tests performed by the Zedler company. That is to say frame tests with different machines in different bends etc., what is possible and how the tests are realised at all. That was a particular highlight, which I liked very much...”

“I do highly recommend the training for every motor vehicle expert or bicycle enthusiast, because here, of course, you get insights or obtain information that you actually don't get like that on the open market.”
Roland Henne from Gutachtenmacher, Oberndorf

“The event here in the Basic training is already a mega one. I'm already looking forward to the Advanced training that will follow in three weeks.”
Ralf Schumacher from Stoll+Kollegen Ingenieurbüro, Sindelfingen

View for apprentices beyond the sales counter

In the test workshop of Zedler-Institut

The fact that the cycle industry is future-oriented and wide-ranging, that it includes state-of-the-art technologies and perspectives was recently the topic of the open house day for apprentices at the Zedler-Institut. The long-standing commitment to render future bicycle mechanics of the vocational training centre Waiblingen

For this purpose, the Zedler-Institut opened their doors and laboratories to 3 classes with 43 apprentices and teachers. Part of the host team: the two Zedler apprentices Arne and Fynn who proudly presented their company training centre to their classmates.
