Big stage for rich diversity

The Eurobike Awards have long since become obligatory part of the biggest bicycle show worldwide. The 13 Gold Awards and the two Green Awards as well as thirty further products which have received a normal Award, reflect the diversity of the products presented during the show.

They determined the prize winners (from left:) Sissi Pärsch, Cat Heraty, Dirk Zedler, Tarek Rasouli, Wolfgang Hohmann and Marta Villa.

In the run-up to the 27th Eurobike Show no less than 350 products had applied for a Eurobike Award. This was quite a challenging task for the six-strong panel of judges, half of which consisted of men and the other half of women. Because they had to filter out all in all 45 products that were good enough to gain one of the coveted Eurobike Awards. And then again to determine the thirteen products that were to obtain a Gold Award. The fact that major trends, such as e-mobility, digitisation and smart service solutions, were awarded is not surprising. With the new generation of Santander bikes from London produced by Pashley (frames and fork) and Beryl (illumination) the trend and provocative subject bikesharing is among the products honoured with a Gold Award.

“The range of the 350 Eurobike Award applications that we as panel of judges were allowed to rate, was very wide and also reflected the major trends: transport solutions, e-support, kids and safety”, says panel member Sissi Paersch after having completed the job. Her panel colleague Tarek Rasouli adds: “There are some products in the Eurobike Award that promise more safety or more comfort. Others open new ways into the subject sustainability. And this year there are many award winners that promise an exciting future as urban means of transport. What is common to all Eurobike Award winners is that they have the potential to make the world a little better.
