All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

The most common safety risks that we come across in our daily work around bicycle safety, technology and operating instructions are also published by us in articles in the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR (Europe's road bike magazine no. 1), BIKE (Europe's mountain bike magazine no. 1), MYBIKE and EMTB in order to make this information, which is important for the industry, available to a wider public.

For many years now, the Eurobike Show Daily, trade fair magazine of the annual Eurobike Show, has also given us the opportunity to publish our view of major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent expert presentations about all areas of bicycle technology and the bicycle market. In addition, we are quoted by further special-interest magazines of the industry and the trade as well as increasingly by radio and television in their media reports, which shows us that we are spot on with our advice. The section "News" informs you about the latest news from our specialist areas. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to areas of interest.

Pedelecs tested by German Broadcasting NDR: all three of them dangerous!

The NDR magazine "Markt" on June 26 tested three electric bicycles together with Zedler-Institut. Dirk Zedler found severe deficiencies on all three bicycles.

The following bicycles were tested: The Mifa aluminium electric pedelec at 674 Euros from an online retailer, the Zündapp Greene 2.0, aluminium city e-bike from Real at 868 Euro and the Fischer City EcoLine from Conrad at 999 Euro. Dirk Zedler, the expert for bicycle technology, tested among other things the simplicity of assembly, the braking force and the stability of the frame.

Zedler found severe safety deficiencies on all three models. One handlebar rotated in the fork steerer tube, one brake cable was loose, another brake was simply too weak. In the case of one model, the motor power was too weak, in the case of another model, the motor propelled too long, although the rider had already stopped pedalling. Another model lacked the device switching off the motor with the activation of the brake lever. According to NDR, Zedler recommended spending 2000 Euro at least for a pedelec bought in a specialist shop, because they were much safer.
