Lord Mayor Dr Matthias Knecht presented the new climate campaign “Keen on [ ]” together with Building Mayor Andrea Schwarz on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the Franck-Areal. With the event, the city administration committed itself to the campaign launched anonymously ten days earlier, which aims to promote the city's climate goal with the bold claim “Our city. 100% climate-neutral.” into the city's society.
More than 20 Ludwigsburg companies, associations and institutions such as Stadtwerke Ludwigsburg-Kornwestheim, Hahn+Kolb, MHP, MANN+HUMMEL, Zedler, Schlossfestspiele, MTV Ludwigsburg and MHP Riesen took part in the event at “Hi.Francky” and reaffirmed their support for the city of Ludwigsburg's climate goals.
Encouraging people to join in
Lord Mayor Matthias Knecht emphasised the importance of climate neutrality for Ludwigsburg and encouraged everyone in Ludwigsburg to get involved: “In order to achieve the goal of a climate-neutral future for our city, the active participation of the entire urban society is crucial. We all need to get more involved in Ludwigsburg and play our part in achieving the goal, which is what we are calling for with this campaign,” explained Knecht and added: “We are happy that so many companies, associations and institutions from Ludwigsburg have accepted our invitation and are actively supporting the climate campaign and thus the goal of climate neutrality.” However, support is also needed from the state, the federal government and the EU. The right framework conditions and sufficient financial support are crucial for target-oriented action on the spot.
With slogans such as “Lust auf [Zukunftsmusik. Gemeinsam für ein klimaneutrales Ludwigsburg.]” (Keen on future music. Together for a climate-netural Ludwigsburg.), “Lust auf [Was bewegen. Gemeinsam für ein klimaneutrales Ludwigsburg.] (Keen on. Something has got to move.)” or “Lust auf [Teamwork. Gemeinsam für ein klimaneutrales Ludwigsburg.] (Keen on team worki)”, Schlossfestspiele, MTV Ludwigsburg or Hahn+Kolb, for example, support the climate goals and carry them further into the city's society.
Sense of unity and positive attitude
Building Mayor Andrea Schwarz makes clear: “Together, the city and supporters are showing that the majority of Ludwigsburg residents are in favour of ambitious climate protection and the cooperation required to achieve it. We want to promote this sense of unity and positive attitude and motivate urban society to take action. The communication campaign is one of several selected climate protection measures funded by the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg as part of the “On the way to climate neutrality” competition. Communication is particularly important, as we need the participation of many people in Ludwigsburg in the transformation to climate neutrality in addition to the infrastructure conversion and the corresponding framework conditions.”
The bright yellow posters, flyers and digital media with the message “Lust auf [ ]” (Keen on [ ]), which had already been displayed throughout the city a week earlier without a sender or any information on the topic, provoked a positive reaction, and thus aroused curiosity. Under the link www.klammer-auf.de, the question ‘What do you fancy?’ invites you to fill in the bracket. The playful activity was intended to encourage interaction and reflection.
