All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

The most common safety risks that we come across in our daily work around bicycle safety, technology and operating instructions are also published by us in articles in the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR (Europe's road bike magazine no. 1), BIKE (Europe's mountain bike magazine no. 1), MYBIKE and EMTB in order to make this information, which is important for the industry, available to a wider public.

For many years now, the Eurobike Show Daily, trade fair magazine of the annual Eurobike Show, has also given us the opportunity to publish our view of major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent expert presentations about all areas of bicycle technology and the bicycle market. In addition, we are quoted by further special-interest magazines of the industry and the trade as well as increasingly by radio and television in their media reports, which shows us that we are spot on with our advice. The section "News" informs you about the latest news from our specialist areas. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to areas of interest.

Zedler-Group offers training courses to be bicycle expert

In the coming season the training to be bicycle expert will be refined. Employees of the cycle and insurance industry are to be addressed directly with a programme sharpened to their needs.

Bicycles and e-bikes are used significantly more than in the past. In addition, the sales figures and prices as new have risen continuously in the past years. And with them the number of accidents. It is worth taking a look at the statistics. According to the Federal Office of Statistics in Germany (Statistisches Bundesamt), the number of accidents involving personal injury came to all in all 91,126 accidents (73,167/17,959 – bicycle/e-bike) in 2021. In 2022, this figure raised to 106,457 accidents (82,453/24,004 – bicycle/e-bike). As a result, both the number of claims and the amounts of loss have risen significantly. “What is not keeping pace with this rise are appropriate and professional expert’s reports for the loss adjusters due to a shortage of competent bicycle and e-bike experts”, states the Zedler-Group in this regard.

And this is, where the Ludwigsburg experts come in with their training courses. Following a successful training winter and spring 2022/23, the Zedler-Group has therefore refined the training courses to be bicycle expert and published new dates. After having trained many motor vehicle experts thoroughly in a field that is completely new to them to date, the experts intend to address employees of the cycle and insurance industry directly with their extended and refined programme from autumn 2023 on.

In this regard, managing director Dirk Zedler states: “After 30 years as bicycle and e-bike experts time has come to share our knowledge with further target groups and in particular with colleagues from the cycle industry. The preparation of expert’s reports has to be decentralised. We can avoid these regrettable accidents with bicycles and e-bikes only to a limited degree, but we should work together that at least the financial loss of the cyclists is settled as quickly as possible. This is realized by means of appropriate and professional expert's reports as a basis for settlement for the insurers. For us, this is also an important element for bicycles and e-bikes to ‘grow up’ as a form of mobility.”

All training dates as well as further information about the training contents and the possibility to register are online at https://zedler-schulung.de/en/experts/ .

The next “Basic” training addressing participants from the cycle industry directly starts on September 28, 2023.
