Insurance terms and conditions, along with case law governing the settlement of claims arising from various causes, are diverse and, in some cases, complex – making the valuation of bicycles in the event of a claim a correspondingly challenging task. Anyone wishing to provide competent support to customers, policyholders or claimants with reliable cost estimates and reports that comply with regulations requires specialist expertise.
This is what the new bicycle expert training courses from the Zedler-Institut aim to provide. Under the motto ‘assess reliably, settle claims faster’, the courses impart expert know-how specifically for bicycles, drawn from over 30 years of experience. The workshops offer practical tools and tips to complement workshop operations, enabling participants to assess claims reliably, prepare well-founded cost estimates or expert reports, and ultimately avoid disputes for themselves and their customers. The aim is to arrive at reliable results more quickly – for the benefit of claimants, customers and insurers.
The ‘Basic’ training course for staff in the bicycle industry equips participants to document damage accurately, list repair costs in accordance with legal requirements, determine replacement and residual values in line with market conditions, and clearly set out their findings in a document for further processing by insurers or the courts.
The two-day ‘Basic’ training course for the bicycle industry will take place on Tuesday 10 February and Wednesday 11 February 2026 in Ludwigsburg.
The ‘Advanced’ training course is aimed at participants who have already completed a basic training course at the Zedler Institute or with a comparable reputable provider on the preparation of bicycle reports. It provides the necessary tools to confidently assess even more complex damage cases. Topics covered include carbon components, typical damage mechanisms and diagnostic options for pedelec systems from various manufacturers. Using real-life practical examples, participants learn to assess the causes of damage correctly from both a technical and causal perspective.
The two-day advanced training course will take place on Tuesday 14 April and Wednesday 15 April 2026 in Ludwigsburg.
The Zedler-Institut’s training courses combine theory and practice – an approach which, according to previous participants, ensures a high level of practical relevance. Further information and dates:
