All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

The most common safety risks that we come across in our daily work around bicycle safety, technology and operating instructions are also published by us in articles in the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR (Europe's road bike magazine no. 1), BIKE (Europe's mountain bike magazine no. 1), MYBIKE and EMTB in order to make this information, which is important for the industry, available to a wider public.

For many years now, the Eurobike Show Daily, trade fair magazine of the annual Eurobike Show, has also given us the opportunity to publish our view of major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent expert presentations about all areas of bicycle technology and the bicycle market. In addition, we are quoted by further special-interest magazines of the industry and the trade as well as increasingly by radio and television in their media reports, which shows us that we are spot on with our advice. The section "News" informs you about the latest news from our specialist areas. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to areas of interest.

New target groups help manufacturers to recover turnovers with e-bikes

For many manufacturers the end of the e-bike demand has not yet been reached. And some of them state that already 50% of the turnover is made with e-bikes. To date one had focussed on the group of the 50 years old and older. Now younger target groups are to be mobilised for electric bikes. Commuters are another group which shows an important potential. The manufacturers of accessories also discover these possibilities and offer more and more e-bike-specific products on the market. But there are also people who have a cautionary word: "You should not forget the normal, everyday turnover providers", states a supplier. The opinions of the manufacturers on the further development are controversial, as the following SAZbike forum shows.

SAZbike asked suppliers
The boom of the e-bikes continues. They often recover the turnover. What are the effects of this hype in your company on the standard bicycle product range? To what extent are the accessory and component market concerned by that?

Dirk Zedler – Zedler institute
At present, the bicycle is drowned out by the ever important pedelecs. For many purposes of use the normal bicycle has still an advantage, e.g. in flat cities and with regard to the parking space. No one likes carrying a pedelec into an apartment or into the cellar. For this reason dealers are requested to provide optimum expert advise and test rides. Taking account of the diversity, dealers have to specialize and to offer less brands, but the complete product range in their shops. Identical parts for the bicycle segments must be worked out, in order not to go down.
