Great present – 48-hour promise

The new parts test lab at Zedler-Institut

There may certainly be room for discussion as to the question for whom it is the greater present. For our team of engineers and test technicians or for you as customers of our testing services. As a matter of fact, we have finished the fourth lab in our energy-efficiency building just in time before Christmas. It is not only equipped with noise attenuation, an insulating floor and bright radiant LED illumination, but also with testing systems developed and built in the company.

After all, this is a further step towards keeping our 48-hour promise even with ongoing growth. We will therefore remain capable of mounting at least one of the ready-to-mount test pieces delivered, the very day of arrival, after 48 hours at the latest, be it frame, fork, bell, handlebar, stem, saddle, seatpost, crank, drive, pedal, pannier rack, wheel or fully-assembled bicycle, and starting the test. As in the past you will have the first test results including professional photos at least three to four days following receipt on your computer.

The new parts test lab at Zedler-Institut (see photo) is fitted with testing systems for the following parts:
2x pannier rack, 2x saddle-seatpost, 2x crank-drive system, 1x pedal and 5x handlebar-stem.

FSC® – our present for you

The FSC® Mix label on the rear cover of our user manuals

Unnoticed by many and for several years already our user manuals “Basic” bear the FSC® Mix label on the rear cover.

Our present to you: Your orders of our user manuals “Brand Basic” and “Individual” coming in until March 31, 2020 will be printed by us without extra charge for you on FSC®-certified paper and we will bear the costs.

With the FSC® label on your brand manuals you provide transparency as to the sustainability along your entire supply chain. Because in buying wooden and paper products bearing the FSC® label you assume responsibility for the origins of raw materials which is also an active contribution to promote sustained forestry and higher environmental and social standards in forests worldwide.

The by far most frequently used FSC® label is FSC® Mix. It stands for products which can be made of materials originating from FSC®-certified forests, recycled material and material from controlled sources (controlled wood). Your find the label for example on chipboards, paper and beverage cartons – as well as on user manuals made by Zedler-Institut.

The FSC® Mix-label

  • ensures that FSC®-forest owners come out of their niche with their commitment
  • promotes the certification of small forest structures
  • enables the wood industry to produce FSC® products in regions with few FSC®-certified areas
  • makes the processing industry put to the test the entire wood procurement (controlled wood)
  • makes sustained forestry also visible on industrial products (e.g. pieces of furniture, paper)
  • allows the use of recycled material, hereby supports circular economy and relieves forests and ecosystems

Thanks for presents – bicycles for the seminar area

Museum bicycles in the seminar area

How nice! For us it felt like Christmas nearly all over the year. Bicycle fans and business partners endowed us with precious bicycles worth of preservation for our collection. New exhibits are a TREK OCLV MTB and a Kirk Precision magnesium die cast MTB in new old stock condition from the 1990s as well as a Merida Warp time trial bike used by Vincenzo Nibali in the season 2017/2018 for the Giro d’Italia for example. Our Principia corner was exquisitely completed with a perfectly preserved Road 700 from the early days.

Even electric bikes are starting to gain a youngtimer status: A nearly unused Flyer of the F-series from the early 2000s and an also well-preserved Riese & Mueller Jetstream, i.e. one of the first pedelecs with integrated battery from the end of the 2000s, have recently been added and are now adorning our seminar area.

Our heartfelt thanks to all fans of our museum and all donors.

The collection can by the way be visited on the occasion of events. The area can be hired by manufacturers, experience-exchange groups or associations for speeches and seminars or internal discussions in a bicycle ambience.

We are looking forward to your request.
