As direct as it gets: an entrepreneurs’ dialogue with Kretschmann and Özdemir

Shortly before the party conference, Dirk Zedler had the opportunity to speak to Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann and Cem Özdemir, the Green Party's leading candidate for the 2026 state elections in Baden-Württemberg, in a small group of six entrepreneurs. The conversation took place  away from the conference room, at the Wildererhütte hut on the Ludwigsburg Christmas market.

Also present were Baden-Württemberg’s Minister for the Environment, Thekla Walker, State Parliament President Muhterem Aras, Andreas Schwarz, Chairman of the Green Party’s parliamentary group in the state parliament, as well as Green Party state MP Silke Gericke from Ludwigsburg, along with other members of parliament from the Green Party.

Over mulled punch and against a baroque backdrop, discussions quickly turned to very real issues from everyday entrepreneurial practice.

Dirk Zedler deliberately addressed the following request directly to Cem Özdemir:

“I have nothing against cars, but I would appreciate it if bicycles and e-bikes were consistently considered in every decision.”

This is exactly what it is about: not ideology, but a change in perspective. Sustainable mobility emerges where bicycles are a natural part of every decision – not an afterthought.

  • Focusing on a single social media channel can work very well.
  • Nobody is interested in the product itself. What sells are emotions.
  • Even within the German Armed Forces, there are people who deal with road safety for cyclists, urban planning and related topics.

A particular highlight of every Bikebrainpool event is the networking dinner in the evening. In a cozy Bavarian inn, the first day came to a relaxed close at themed tables with engaging conversations, great food and wonderful company.

Personal exchange was at the heart of the event and will certainly continue to be so.

Our sincere thanks go to Isabell Eberlein, Ulrike Saade and Amelie Suttner from velo_konzept, as well as to the velobiz team, for a highly successful event from which we took away many valuable impulses. We are already looking forward to the next one!

40 Years and Not Quiet at All – Thank You for 40 Years of Verbund Service und Fahrrad e.V.

At the end of November, five of us, Annelies Rokitte, Norman Thalheimer, Petra Grunewald, Philipp Kipker and Dirk Zedler, attended the VSF Annual Conference in Leipzig. The conference also marked the celebration of 40 years of VSF. The ceremonial event “VSF. 40 Jahre on Tour”, attended by many long-standing companions of the association, not only marked the official opening of the actual annual conference in Leipzig, but also

offered an impressive and engaging retrospective of what VSF has achieved, changed and driven forward over four decades for the benefit of cycling. This set the perfect stage for two inspiring days full of exchange and new impulses.

It was a good thing that five of us were on site, as it allowed us to divide up the lectures and workshops effectively and take away a great deal of valuable input.

The presentations on the ever-present topic of artificial intelligence were particularly exciting. Unlike many other events, AI agents were demonstrated step by step using real-life examples.

The workshops on team resilience, marketing, social media and successful sales conversations also provided us with many useful impulses. Now it is up to us to integrate these new insights into our everyday work.

Dirk’s presentations on the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) were also met with great interest – a topic that has only partially reached manufacturers and is still largely unknown in retail.

At the end of the conference, it was a real pleasure to reflect on the many impressions together with so many committed cycling enthusiasts at the bar of the Penta Hotel.

It was a great pleasure to be part of it.

Many thanks to Uwe Woell, Stephan Fuchs and the entire VSF team!

On November 19 and 20, the bicycle industry came together at the Umspannwerk in Berlin for the third ZIV Technical Conference, the leading platform for technological trends and developments. For the first time, the event also opened its doors to non-members.

The conference provided Philipp Kipker and Dirk Zedler with exciting impulses, insightful behind-the-scenes perspectives, stimulating discussions and valuable exchange – exactly what our industry needs in the current situation.

Under the motto “Ride the Change”, the industry discussed how to respond to new mobility needs and evolving political frameworks.

Our sincere thanks go to Tim Salatzki, Sebastian Grassow and the entire ZIV team.

important developments became apparent, particularly the ongoing trend toward AI-supported solutions.

At the same time, it once again became clear that classic translation and documentation expertise carried out by real people remains indispensable due to legal requirements and liability issues.

This made it all the more enjoyable to meet, for example, Fabio Scaliti from our pool of bicycle-savvy translators in person.
