All about bicycles, electric-assisted bikes, technology and safety in the press

The most common safety risks that we come across in our daily work around bicycle safety, technology and operating instructions are also published by us in articles in the leading German special-interest magazines TOUR (Europe's road bike magazine no. 1), BIKE (Europe's mountain bike magazine no. 1), MYBIKE and EMTB in order to make this information, which is important for the industry, available to a wider public.

For many years now, the Eurobike Show Daily, trade fair magazine of the annual Eurobike Show, has also given us the opportunity to publish our view of major developments in the cycle industry in full-page articles.

We also speak regularly in independent expert presentations about all areas of bicycle technology and the bicycle market. In addition, we are quoted by further special-interest magazines of the industry and the trade as well as increasingly by radio and television in their media reports, which shows us that we are spot on with our advice. The section "News" informs you about the latest news from our specialist areas. The reports and publications of this section are listed chronologically or according to areas of interest.

Craft Sustainability and Digitalisation

Between tradition and modernity // Qualitative Study

(…)

5. Determination of the status quo for sustainability and digitalisation in the crafts sector

(…)

Even in the training regulations for the craftman’s trade, sustainability has so far appeared in a subordinate position only. (…) Zedler explicitly criticises the two-wheeler mechatronic training which includes too little sustainability and digital knowledge:

“The industry is right in the middle of a radical change: […] Manufacturers and dealers have to create apprenticeship places and places to study; in addition, the chamber of industry and commerce as well as the chamber of crafts have to adjust to the new conditions […].“
(Quote Dirk Zedler, Zedler – Institut für Fahrradtechnik und -Sicherheit GmbH 2021)

There are even more opportunities and scope of action here, which are often already being used by large or particularly innovative and creative craft businesses, thereby taking on a role as a pioneer.

7. Recommendations for the integrated consideration of the transformation processes digitalisation and sustainability in the craft sector

(…)

7.2.1. Focussing on the integration of sustainability and digitalisation in the training

As the economy and therefore the jobs and occupational fields will change, digitalisation will play a decisive role in training in addition to imparting knowledge about the importance of sustainability. (…) Zedler is therefore calling for an according upgrade of the two-wheeler mechatronics training and a stronger interconnection with digital knowledge and skills.

“The industry is right in the middle of a radical change: Out of the leisure area into mobility. Manufacturers and dealers have to create apprenticeships and places to study; in addition, the CCI and the chamber of crafts have to adjust to the new conditions. Nothing speaks again soldering a steel frame […]. But in my opinion, this is an anachronism in the two-wheeler master class in view of the challenges of the current rapid development in the field of electrification and digitalisation of bicycles as well as the demand for services in the 21st century.”
(Quote Dirk Zedler, Zedler – Institut für Fahrradtechnik und -Sicherheit GmbH 2021)
