District Ludwigsburg. For the medium-sized company award all companies in Baden-Wuerttemberg with a staff of no more than 500 which support welfare organisations, social organizations, initiatives, institutions and associations and which make a social project together with them were invited to apply. Two medium-sized companies from the administrative district of Ludwigsburg were awarded.
The prize for the category up to 20 staff members was awarded to Zedler – Institut für Fahrradtechnik und -Sicherheit GmbH in Ludwigsburg. The company has built up an education partnership with three local schools and furnished a bicycle workshop in each school at their own charge. The objective is to give special care teenagers from a disadvantaged social background insight into promising technologies combined with practical training.

The motto of the non-monetary prize is "Performance – Commitment – Appreciation" and acknowledges the voluntary social commitment of these companies. "With their commitment at their place of residence or worldwide the companies dedicate incredibly much time and heart", explain the Caritas directors Prelate Wolfgang Tripp (Stuttgart) and Monsignore Bernhard Appel (Freiburg) in the New Castle in Stuttgart in front of 400 guests. It is important to appreciate this commitment. And therefore the Caritas and the Ministry of Finance and Economy intended to express their appreciation and thanks with this prize.
The representative of the state government for medium-sized and craft trade, Peter Hofelich, explained: "The record number of participants is impressive proof that the companies in the south-west of Germany fulfil their social responsibilities to the full." Vicar general Dr. Fridolin Keck, representative of the Archdiocese of Freiburg, appreciated the social commitment of the companies which was exemplary and worth copying for the church, as well.
