At the invitation of the DVM working group “Bicycle Safety” and Dirk Zedler, participants from research, manufacturers and service providers from Germany and beyond met for a two-day exchange in Ludwigsburg on December 3rd and 4th.

In order to protect the manufacturers of bicycles, e-bikes, e-MTBs and e-transportation bikes from market or trade surveillance procedures and impending sales stops, Zedler-Institut is also holding its (basic) workshop, which has been tried and tested for many years, in autumn.

Safety discussion on cargo bikes

How safe are cargo bikes? In a brief interview, Dirk Zedler explains what the industry is doing well, what needs to be done better and what contribution the specialist trade can make.

The retail sector is undergoing change, and the bicycle industry is no exception. The transition comes with challenges but offers just as many opportunities.

Zedler-Institut’s CE workshops offer background knowledge and tried-and-tested tools for placing EPACs, e-MTBs and e-cargo bikes on the market. The training courses on product safety and product liability as well as CE marking at Zedler-Institut are mainly aimed at decision-makers (managing directors, CTOs) and key staff of bicycle manufacturers, e.g. in the product management, purchasing, quality assurance and service.

This year, a prestigious expert jury honoured a total of 43 innovative products and projects from the bike and future mobility industry with the Eurobike Award, with twelve products receiving a special prize.
